So, I’ve been training AI Chatbots to serve various business needs for the last few months and thought I should say something about them. As with most things surrounding AI, there’s a lot of hype, a lot of hyperbole, and a lot of straight up horse shit. I’ve been swarmed with ads promising me I can “build a bot in 15 minutes that will make me a million dollars” and nonsense like that. It pisses me off because it makes the real value of these tools look suspect to people who don’t know more about them.

Robotic Customer Service. Not a replacement for GOOD human customer service. But … I haven’t seen that for awhile anway, let’s be real. Great experiences with telephone and chat support are the exception not the rule. With AI Chatbots, they’re pretty consistently helpful and pleasant, or at least tell you they can’t help you.

I’ll go into more detail below, but let me be clear when I tell you this: We can teach these chat bots to a) understand your business and its primary products and services b) prioritize and guide the conversation towards actions that you deem valuable (like signing up for your services or purchasing your products) c) differentiate between YOUR business and your competitors — so it doesn’t tell someone to go to the guy next door and d) not try to pretend it’s a human being OR sound so robotic nobody wants to deal with it. They strike a nice middle ground of natural language and robotic efficiency that the interactions customers have with them are often more productive and enjoyable than those they’ve been having with live agents who probably live in another hemisphere and have no real insight into your business or your customers needs.
